Upper Age Limit & Relaxations

The upper age limit is 27 years as on 01.10.2009 and the lower age limit is 18 years.

Minimum qualifying percentage of marks for SC/ST candidates is 55%.

A relaxation of 5 years for SC / ST candidates, 3 years for candidates from Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) is permissible in Upper Age Limit.

An additional 10 years for Physically Challenged Candidates (Locomotor Disability & Hearing Impairment) is admissible in the upper age limit i.e. 10 years for general, 13 years for Other Backward Class (Non Creamy Layer) and 15 years for Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe candidates as per rules.

No processing fee is to be paid by SC/ST/Physically Challenged candidates.

Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen will be as per extant Government Rules.

A relaxation of 5 years in upper age limit is admissible to candidates who were ordinarily domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01/01/1980 to 31/12/1989.

Upper age is further relaxable up to 84 months for work experience (excluding apprentice training) working directly or through contractor in a Public Sector or Private Sector Organisation and engaged in the manufacture of Power generation equipments. The relaxation in age will be extended on pro rata basis according to the number of completed months of experience up to a maximum of 84 months for experience of 50 months and on pro rata basis for less experience. Such candidates will have to compete with other eligible candidates in Written Test/ Interview etc.

Selection Process

The selection process will consist of Written Test, Personal Interview and Medical Test. All the eligible candidates will be invited for written test tentatively scheduled to be held on 29.11.2009 at 3.00pm and venue is SRM University, SRM Nagar, Kattankulathur, kancheepuram district, in the NH46 between Chengleput and Tambaram near Chennai at their own expense. The question booklet will be available in English, Tamil and Hindi.

All eligible Ex-Servicemen candidates who possess the pass certificate of NTC and NAC (% of marks not mandatory) in the relevant trade from Armed Forces will be called for written test.

After written test, candidates will be arranged in the merit order of written test marks for interview.

For the purpose of application of the aforesaid criteria, initially all unreserved candidates in each trade along with such reserved category candidates of that trade who have not availed the marks / age relaxation prescribed for the respective category will be grouped together, and then arranged in the descending order of marks obtained in the written test and only the required number starting from the top will be called for the interview in each trade. In case of a tie at cut-off marks, all the candidates scoring cut-off marks will be called for the interview in the ratio of 1:3 to the number of vacancies.

Reserved category candidates who are initially considered in the Unreserved Category and who do not make it to the interview short-list will be re-grouped with their respective categories for further consideration and candidates will be called for interview in the prescribed ratio of 1:3 to the number of vacancies in that category and trade. In case of a tie at cut-off marks, all the candidates scoring cut-off marks will be called for the interview.

Later, at the time of final selection, the same method will be followed for all those Reserved Category candidates considered so far under Unreserved Category.

The Interview for the shortlisted candidates is tentatively scheduled to be held from 01.12.2009 to 04.12.2009 and the short listed candidates in the Interview will be required to appear for medical test as per the schedule informed to them. The schedule for Personnel Interview and Medical Test for the short list candidates will be hosted in our website also. The candidates are advised to prepare themselves for stay at Chennai at their own risk and cost during the written test/personal interview.

Emoluments and other benefits

Top

Selected candidates will initially be taken as Temporary Employees for a period of one year. During this period they will be paid daily wages as per notification of the Government of Tamil Nadu for six months, (current rate of wages is Rs.3891 p.m.) and consolidated wages for the next six months @ Rs. 5500 p.m. In addition, they will be entitled to free medical benefits for self and dependent family members as per Company rules and will also be eligible for subsidised company accommodation, if available.

On successful completion of this period, they will be absorbed in the regular establishment as ARTISAN GRADE-IV at the minimum of the scale of pay of Rs.4800-130-5190-EB-5255-150-7805 (under revision) with applicable allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance etc. The absorption will be subject to being found suitable by the Committee constituted for this purpose.

Other benefits after absorption include reimbursement of Conveyance expenditure, LTC/LTA, Leave, Contributory Provident Fund, Gratuity, Group Insurance, Group Personal Accident Insurance, Uniform, Washing allowance, Group Accident Insurance etc as per rules. Appointment to the post will be subject to being found medically fit by the Authorised Medical Authority in BHEL.

Health Standards

Applicants should have sound health befitting a heavy fabrication industry. Before joining, selected candidates will have to undergo medical examination by the Company’s Authorised Medical Officer and the appointment will be subject to meeting the health standards prescribed by Company. The candidates are advised in their own interest that they should get themselves thoroughly examined by a competent Medical Officer before applying against the advertisement.

The definition of Locomotor Disability (Orthopaedically handicapped) and Hearing Impairment for Physically Challenged candidates is as per The persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995. Locomotor Disability means minimum of 40% of physical defect or deformity which causes an interference with the common functioning of the bones, joints or muscles. Hearing impairment means loss of sixty decibels or more in the better ear in the conversational range of frequencies.

General Instructions

(i)	Category such as OBC, SC, ST should be carefully filled up in the Online Application Format, as this will not be allowed to be changed at a later date. The applications of candidates who do not attach documentary proof of Category as entered in the application, in the prescribed format will be rejected as incomplete. Also the Category once declared, if found to be false at any later stage will render the candidate liable for suitable actions including termination and prosecution.

(ii)	Persons employed in Government/ Semi-Government/ Public Sector Undertakings/ Autonomous bodies should apply through proper channel or produce “No Objection Certificate” at the time of interview.

(iii)	Candidates, who have left a PSU after availing Voluntary Retirement, if selected, will be required to return the VRS compensation received to the PSU concerned.

Samsung B7620 Giorgio Armani Mobile Phone

Recently Samsung announced the forthcoming release of the Samsung B7620 Giorgio Armoni. This is not the first Armani mobile phone from Samsung, in fact to date there have been three models released in conjunction between these two famous brands, with the B7620 being the third in the line up. The first device, announced back in September 2007 was a tiny, compact, touchscreen device, running on the then new Croix UI. With stylish looks and a decent build quality, the Armani phone was slim and compact, and made an ideal addition to a stylish outfit. It even managed to pack in a few decent features, such as MicroSD memory expansion, Stereo Bluetooth and 3 Megapixel camera.

The second Armani phone, announced one year later, was fully titled the Samsung M7500 Emporio Armani. It wasn’t quite so stylish to look at, but despite the rather bland, almost normal style, it packed a decent spec list, with a 3.0 megapixel camera with Smile Shot, large internal memory with memory card expansion, 3.5mm audio jack, Stereo Bluetooth, FM radio and dedicated music keys, amongst others. There was even a built in option for light effects, which came into their own when used with the music player.

It would seem that Samsung are keen to continue the tie-in with Armani, as they have once again, one year on, announced the latest Armani phone in their range, the Samsung B7620 Giorgio Armani. And once again, Samsung have delivered with a fine looking fashion device worthy of the Armani name, and including a high feature specification worthy of any Samsung device.

The Giorgio Armani device is capable of running on the latest incarnation of Windows Mobile, version 6.5, and the OS overlaid with the now familiar Samsung TouchWiz user interface. The B7620, to use the handsets official designation, incorporates a full, slide out QWERTY keyboard, with a tilting display, much the way the HTC Touch Pro II works. This makes typing on the handset a much more comfortable experience, and allows the device to double up almost as an ultra mini PC netbook. The large screen on the handset measures in at a comfortable 3.5 inches, with a resolution of 800 x 480, and supporting up to 16 million colours. This AMOLED display is a resistive touchscreen, which means it can be used with either finger or stylus. The new Armani phone is a bit of a heavyweight, coming in at 164g, and measuring 118.5 x 58.3 x 16.4 mm.

Available in a smart looking Black and Bronze colour, the new Giorgio Armani device delivers with features as well as in looks. Underneath the well crafted shell, we find the handset offers a 5.0 Megapixel camera, with features such as face and smile detection included. The camera has an LED flash, and utilises autofocus to bring better sharpness to captured images. There are also further features, including Wide Dynamic Range, image stabilisation and a panorama effect. The Armani has a built in GPS chip, which can be used to tag captured images with the location information of where the snap was taken, which can then be shared with friends online. The camera is also enabled for video capture, and video clips can be recorded at VGA resolution at 30 fps. Images and video clips on the handset can easily be edited, with the Armani phone offering an onboard photo/video editor.

The Giorgio Armani B7620 is a capable media device, and delivers a high quality media experience. To start with, the video players supports a wide range of file formats, including DivX and XviD, as well as supporting MP3, WMA and AAC music files, amongst others. The Armani phone also offers DNSe, Samsung’s audio enhancement technology, which helps to deliver a more realistic sound experience from the handset during audio playback. There is plenty of space available to store videos, images and music, as the Armani delivers with 8GB internal memory, which can be expanded by a further 32GB with MicroSD memory cards. And if that were not enough, the B7620 also includes a Stereo FM radio with RDS, too.

The Armani phone is a well connected handset, supporting all the major connection options. There is Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP stereo support, as well as WiFi, 3G, HSCSD, GPRS and EDGE. The handset also offers excellent Mobile broadband options, supporting upload speeds of 5.76 Mbps, and download speeds of 7.2 Mbps. Connection to a PC is straightforward enough, thanks to the inclusion of a v2.0 Micro USB port.

There are some nice touches on the handset, with the inclusion of some Giorgio Armani fashion applications, a business card scanner, and the inclusion of Work & Life mode, which allows you to have a different set up on the device, for at work and at home.

Overall, Samsung and Armani have combined to produce a mobile phone that manages to deliver on looks as well as performance. With a smooth look and powerful specification, the Giorgio Armani will suit both the fashion conscious and power user.
